Description

These five pieces can be played either as a complete suite or as selected items for  concert purposes.  The Dialogue is so named as the musical material is shared between the three  instruments.  The Blues was inspired by an ironic comment from the tragic Sonny Liston – ‘Someday they’re gonna write a blues song for fighters.’ He specified a bell as one of the instruments. The octaves G# to A in the right hand of the piano part in bar 8 attempts to meet this requirement.  The third piece is based on the Argentinian Tango, while the Slow Waltz was a response to the death of an extremely gentle lady.  The Caprice, as implied by its title, should be played with a sense of fun and enjoyment.    R.
