op. 14: Sound-Piece for Clarinet and Piano
One of three “essays” in his new style, the others being Ecstasy and Glory. The BBC panel accepted it for broadcast on Radio 3 at the second submission. The first performance was actually by Jeremy Goldstone (clarinet) and the composer (piano) at a composers’ concert in 1982. The first broadcast performance was with Jack Brymer (clarinet) and Ian Lake.
