Description
In “A Village Organist’s Little Organ Book” the intention was to start with relatively easy pieces, some of which are possible without the pedals. As village organists become more confident, pieces gradually become a little more demanding. Registration depends, of course, on what is available. I only make suggestions and you will find your own ways of enhancing the music. In “Threnody and Chorale”, for instance, much depends upon how many manuals you have; so, my markings only suggest changing prominence. Players should try to match the changing moods. I hope organists will find voluntaries appropriate for before and after services – some are intended for particular occasions. “Little Partita” might do for a concert. I hope nobody will disapprove of my sense of humour; eg “Chorale Prelude” for April 1st.
